The MASCOT 28 on offer with the construction number 2 from 1980, built by the Danish shipyard MASCOT BOATS AS under the management of PALLE MORTENSEN, is a very well-known motorsailer from the very early days of production of this successful model. The SOMMERVIND is therefore a rarity in the yacht-building industry, with a pronounced sturdiness and seaworthiness combined with good sailing characteristics. She also has a simple yet extremely elegant and unobtrusive appearance! This is due in particular to the filigree aluminium window bars used at the time and the omission of unnecessary door flaps on the wheelhouse, which is the basis for excellent all-round visibility.
All the materials used are of high quality and the woodwork inside the ship in particular is evidence of the high level of expertise of the carpenters and boat builders of the time.
However, what makes this ship particularly suitable for use on the North Sea and Baltic Sea in the increasingly rough wind and precipitation conditions is, in addition to the type of ship, its comprehensive equipment and size: rigging, lines and sails as a furling (boom) main and furling jib can be operated relatively easily and unproblematically from the cockpit, while the fixed wheelhouse always provides a cosy atmosphere for continuing the voyage in poor weather conditions.
